We are happy to support you in preparing your income tax return. For this purpose, it is necessary to identify the relevant documents and forward them to us for processing.

With our tax checklist, we give you an overview of what information and supporting documents you should have ready for your tax return. The complete provision of the documents reduces the processing effort, saves time and ensures that the content of the tax return created is correct and that all possible benefits can be taken into account for you. Should you ever forget a receipt, you can of course submit it to us at any time.

Send documents to us

After compiling the relevant evidence and information, you can provide it to us in different ways. Of course, you can hand in the receipts to us in the office. No appointment is necessary. Between Monday and Friday, you are welcome to hand in the documents to us personally during our opening hours (Mon thru Fri from 08.00 – 17.00).
Of course, you can also send us the documents by mail. Of course, we will confirm receipt of the documents.
The digital provision of documents is much easier. You are welcome to send us the documents digitally. Whether by e-mail to einkommensteuer@schlecht-partner.de or via a data room you have set up, we look forward to receiving your receipts digitally.
On request, we are also happy to set up a secure data room in which you can upload the documents. To do so, please contact us by e-mail at einkommensteuer@schlecht-partner.de stating your e-mail and the tax return year that we are engaged to prepare for you.

What documents are necessary for the preparation of your tax return?

Surely you ask yourself this question anew every year when the tax return is due. In the following, we will provide you with all documents and supporting documents relating to income and expenses and the information that is relevant for us to properly prepare your tax return. Please provide us with these documents and information. You can do so by either bringing them to our office personally, sending them via E-mail or by means of a secured virtual drive.

Our tip: Collect the receipts throughout the year and add them to your tax documents. Then you will quickly have all the important documents ready for the next tax appointment.

OVERVIEW OF THE REQUIRED CERTIFICATES AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

  • Tax assessment and tax return of the previous year
  • Copy of official ID (for spouses for both)
  • Income tax certificate (Lohnsteuerbescheinigung), capital-forming benefits (Vermögenswirksame Leistung)
  • Certificate of
    – Unemployment benefit (Arbeitslosengeld), parental allowance (Elterngeld), short-time working allowance (Kurzarbeitergeld)
    – Sickness benefit, maternity benefit
  • In the case of pension (e.B old-age, disability, widow's, company and private pensions)
    – at the time of first withdrawal: pension notice
    – annual pension certificate
  • Capital income (tax certificate, income statement)
  • Investment funds (tax certificate, income statement for foreign custody accounts, advance lump sum)
  • Foreign and other income (e.B. pensions, renting, capital income, cryptocurrency)
  • Information on the type of income (rental, capital income, etc.)
  • Proof of taxation of income abroad
  • Foreign tax return / tax assessments
  • Rent, incidentals (e.g. rental agreement, utility bill property management)
  • Purchase contract, notary fees, brokerage fee, real estate transfer tax
  • Construction and repair invoices
  • Interest certificates for loans
  • Special depreciation according to § 7b (see extra checklist), architectural monument
  • Trips home – workplace
    – Distance km, number of trips, job ticket
    – Collective transport (e.g. factory bus)
    – at high mileage (e.g. TÜV report, ASU, inspection calculations with km level)
  • Accident cost cars
  • Company car (if necessary, logbook, additional payments e.g. fuel)
  • Union dues
  • Work equipment (e.g. computer, tools, work clothes, specialist literature)
  • Study or home office flat rate, telephone, Internet costs
  • Training costs (e.g. study costs, technician, master class minus directly assignable subsidies e.g. Bafög or tuition fees)
  • Application costs (e.g travel expenses, office supplies)
  • Relocation costs professionally arranged minus tax-free replacement
  • Accident and professional legal expenses insurance
  • Tax consulting costs
  • Winter employment levy
  • Out-of-home activities (e.g travel, accommodation costs, additional food expenses less tax-free replacement, provision of meals)
  • Double housekeeping (e.g. rent, incidentals, necessary household contents, second home tax less tax-free replacement)
  • Craftsman invoices (wages only)
  • Utility bill (e.g. chimney sweeper, caretaker)
  • Expenses for domestic help, care and support services in the household
  • Riester pension, Rüruprente
  • Payment into domestic or foreign statutory pension funds
  • Insurance contributions (e.g. private health, care, life, liability, car insurance)
  • Donation receipts
  • Church tax refund/additional payment
  • Proof of disability (e.g. disability card, certificate from the pension office, pension notice about accident pension)
  • Medical expenses (e.g. medication, dentist, glasses, hospitalization, cure, alternative practitioner)
  • Travel costs to doctors (number and km)
  • Funeral expenses, existential court proceedings
  • Maintenance payments for children, ex-husband/wife, parents, grandparents, partner
  • Health and long-term care insurance contributions (KV/PV contributions) for dependent persons
  • Home costs, costs for domestic help
  • Up to 14 years: childcare costs (e.g. fees for kinder garden, after-school care, babysitter, childminder)
  • Over 18 years: training and apprenticeship contracts, certificate of enrolment
  • Training allowance for external accommodation
  • School fees (e.g. private, geriatric schools care, etc.)
  • Income tax certificate, health insurance contributions
  • Proof for single parents
  • Tax identification number (if available)
